The Caribbean/Florida Fire & Invasives Learning Network cordially invites you to participate in the 2nd workshop in San Juan, Puerto Rico from December 8-10, 2009.
The workshop will be held at the Howard Johnson Hotel on Isla Verde, Carolina, Puerto Rico (located within the San Juan vicinity).
As before, we have a limited capacity of 40 participants for the workshop so your early response is appreciated as the spots will be allocated on a first-come, first service basis. Be sure you have your necessary travel documents secured before you fill out this RSVP. If you need additional info to secure your travel documents, contact sgun@tnc.org.
With the exception of US Federal employees and Puerto Ricans living nearby, flights and lodging will be provided (see below for details). After you have submitted this RSVP, you will be contacted by Shirley Gun or MaryLou Bakidis-Alpi to begin making flight arrangements for you.

Although fire and invasive plant management are typically seen as two separate land management needs, the increase of invasive grasses and other invaders that promote or are promoted by fire, has forced practitioners on both sides to learn the others’ tools, although often too late to abate the threat efficiently or effectively.
The Florida-Caribbean Fire & Invasives Learning Network seeks to collaborate with practitioners across the region in order to advancing the needs and tools of both the fire and invasives communities requires a proactive approach that explores the connections between fire and invasives across the greater landscape, while building the capacity of practitioners on the ground.
